DIVA Adds Support for Closed-Captioned Video

We’re always working to expand DIVA and add further functionality. We’ve finished polishing off the new caption feature in DIVA which allows you to add closed-captioning text to any of the videos you upload to DIVA. Below is some information about how create proper captions for DIVA and examples of how that looks. We're in the process of developing a comprehensive guide for you, but if you have any questions feel free to email us at divateam at sfsu.edu.

The format the captions are added is Timed-Text XML. If you do not already have captions in this format, it is easy to add them with the help of the program MAGpie 2 (http://ncam.wgbh.org/webaccess/magpie/) for Mac OS X and Windows. This program allows you to progress your through video and add captions as you go. For more information on captioning and captioning services, contact the Disability Programs and Resource Center (http://www.sfsu.edu/~dprc/deardprc/accessible.html)
