Big Year (for Endangered Species): Golden Gate National Recreation Area (Updated over a year ago)
Brent Plater and Peter Brastow presented a detailed overview of the amazing fact that the Golden Gate National Recreation Area is one of the planet's hottest spots for biodiversity. 2008 is the Big Year for Endangered Species in the 70-mile area that comprises the GGNRA, and we got a look at many of them during this talk, from the Snowy Plover to Presidio Clarkia to the California Sea Otter... The Big Year is also a contest inviting the public to carry out a checklist of activities on behalf of the 33 endangered species in the GGNRA. www.ggnrabigyear.org.
