Ivan MOTORIN (act. c. 1730-1735): Commissioned by Empress Anna Ioannovna for Assumption Cathedral in 1733. Cast by Ivan and Mikhail Motorin in 1735. In May 1737 there was a fire in the Kremlin. Water used to put out the fire caused the bell to cool unevenly and break as it sat in the casting pit. It remained there until 1836 when it was put on a pedestal by August de Montferrand.
