Georg Johann MATTARNOVY (d. 1719): Commissioned by Peter the Great (originally called the Imperial Library and Museum) the Kunstkammer was Russia's first public museum. Today it houses the Museum of Anthropology and Ethnography. The building was reworked and completed by Nicolaus Friedrich H?rbel, Gaetano Chiaveri, and Mikhail Zemtsov.
