John NAPIER (1550 - 1617): A device for calculation (multiply & divide). Invented by Scotsman John Napier (also invented Logarithms) in the early 17th c. Ringstick: Calculating cylinder for accounting. From the late 18th c.Invented by McFarland at Glasgow c.1840.
