Bernardino LUINI (c. 1480-c. 1532): The fresco cycle was commissioned by Gerolamo Rabia a Milanese nobleman. In the early 19th century the frescoes were removed from their original setting and mounted as panels. The story is derived from a play based on the story of Prince Cephalus and Princess Procris of Attica from Book VII of the Metamorphoses by Ovid.
