ROMAN LATE ANTIQUE Anonymous (284 - c. 500): Dichroic glass changes color when held up to the light. The change in color is caused by colloidal gold and silver plus manganese in the glass. This cup is a type of vessel called a cage-cup because of the type of carving. The mythological scene shows Lycurgus being strangled by a vine after he had attacked Dionysos.
