OTTOMAN Anonymous (1516 - 1918): Originally built as a residence for pasha Ahmad al Qaramanli founder of the Qaramanli (Karamanli) dynasty. From c. 1750 until 1940, the building served as the British Consulate. It was restored 1987-1993. Since then it has housed a library and cultural center, and is named after Abd al Khaliq al Nuwayji a member of the Old Tripoli Conservation Authority.
