OTTOMAN Anonymous (1516 - 1918): Built on top of ancient Roman foundations. In the 1530s and 1540s, was a crusader fortress used by the Knights of St. John. Was extensively renovated in 1922 by the Italian governing authority and again in the 1980s by UNESCO. Since 1988, has housed the Jamahiriya Museum.
