Postnik YAKOVLEV (act. c. 1550-1562): St. Basil's: Central church built under Ivan IV (r 1533-84) in 1553-4. In 1555-61 Postnik and Barma built 8 churches around this church. In 1588 a 10th church was added over the grave of Basil the Blessed. Ornamental domes over the chapels added in 1593. Statue of 17th-century Russian patriots Pozharsky and Minin by Martos (1804-18).
