Talks: Candlestick Point: State Park for the People (Updated over a year ago)
Part of the ongoing Shaping San Francisco Talks at CounterPULSE, co-sponsored by Nature in the City, this one featured Claude Everhart of Friends of Candlestick, Patrick Rump of Literacy for Environmental Justice, and Alan Hopkins of Golden Gate Audubon Society, discussing the fascinating history of Candlestick Pt. State Recreation Area. They explained about the burgeoning biodiversity in the park boundaries, how only 25% of the park was ever properly "developed," and how activists and neighbors are working towards a bigger and better park, encompassing Yosemite Slough, in the years to come.
