Talks: Indispensable New Deal (Updated over a year ago)
Local historian, geographer and author Gray Brechin ("Imperial San Francisco") gives a wide-ranging tour through the living legacy of the New Deal in San Francisco and California. Though a slide show, he gave a brilliant running commentary throughout, with many lesser known details of the New Deal and President Franklin Roosevelt's team, and their compassionate and creative approach to the crisis of the Great Depression of the 1930s. The presentation and following discussion inevitably linked the events of that time to the coming administration and historic period we face now.
