KPIX Eyewitness News report from February 7th 1967 in San Francisco's Chinatown by Belva Davis, featuring scenes of Mayor John F. Shelley (1905-74) declaring the city's official participation in Chinese American celebrations for the Year of the Ram. Also includes views of Miss Chinatown beauty pageant contestants and of the St Mary's drum core performing in front of spectators. Mayor Shelley states that: "The Chinese are a very active and very important part of the life and culture of San Francisco." This report was shot by KPIX cameraman Lou Calderon. It is also worth noting that this is the oldest surviving KPIX-TV field report made by Belva Davis.
