Silent KPIX news footage taken on May 3, 1967 of a police Property Clerk processing guns and ammunition that were possibly seized from the Black Panther Party. In the original KPIX shot logs this report was titled "Panther Guns Cache" and may relate to a KPIX Eyewitness news report (KPIX 31184) taken the same day about the arrest of Huey P. Newton and Bobby Seale, who were arrested after carrying guns into the California State Capitol in Sacramento. Remastered, edited and catalogued for the web by Shira Peltzman.

oh my god those are weapons of war that they carried?  those black panther men look like milants out of a jungle. in fact i was 6yrs old at the time living in san francisco. the black panthers hewy newton made it seem like the black people in oakland so scared. to  what ever hewy said was right cuz really they feared their own race. the black panters, the oakland p.d. never stood a chance

Officer John Frey is my Dad ...I'm the 3 year old ..We never got any of his belongings back ... We didn't get his uniform or gun or badge or his shoes ,hat ... NOTHING !!! we as in my mother and me I had no brothers or sisters after he died .because he got killed I love your style thanks to that negro...and the two other men that were on the scene of the crime told me exactly what happened and what time it was so there sure is a lot of make believe stuff in the story here for one thing Hainzol and got shot twice another thing they were never near the cop cars during the shooting and another thing it was 4:54 a.m. and a guy killed and he didn't die on the scene he died in the ambulance in the surgeon's arms
