The 76 station is replaced by the new S.F. Fireman's Credit Union building. When Professor Max Kirkeberg was giving walking tours for Elder Hostel, he would stand by the Bank of America building and point out that the reason the Fireman's Credit Union was there, was because most fireman were gay. Sooner or later someone would challenge that, and he would admit that it was there because it was close to the geographic center of the city. The Fireman's Credit Union did not remain there long, and moved to a still newer building at California Street and Park Presidio Boulevard. Note that the early Castro Street Fair did not include Market Street.
