KPIX Eyewitness News report from February 7th 1972 in San Francisco featuring a press conference about a new teaching assistants program for the Bayview Hunters Point neighborhood. A spokesman points out that the 48 successful applicants were all previously unemployed and were interviewed and selected by a community sub-committee, led by Mrs Bertha Freeman (who is also seen speaking). One of these applicants explains that the program has enabled him to enroll at San Francisco State University, majoring in social welfare education and child growth and development, whilst he trains. Ends with views of the new housing development under construction at Bayview Hunters Point.
