719 Scott was built in 1895 in a Queen Anne Classical Revival mixture. Next to it on the corner is 1201 Fulton, built in 1896 in a distinctly non-Victorian style (Tudor Revival). Both buildings at this time make up the Alamo Square Inn, a bed and breakfast. A third building, a Victorian on Fulton, completes the bed and breakfast. There are then two buildings built a year apart, but 719 is looking backwards in style, whereas 1201 Fulton realized that the Victorian era was ending. The interiors are as dramatically different as the exteriors. At one time, in the 1950s or 1960s, the owner of the two properties intended to tear them down for a high-rise apartment building. Happily, this plan failed. See related slides for interiors of the two homes.
