South wall of the Leonard R. Flynn Elementary School, formerly Le Conte School. Somewhere between 1973 and 1993, LeConte was changed to Leonard R. Flynn. In 1993, because of shots fired from the Bernal Dwellings public housing across Cesar Chavez Street, students are trained to "duck and cover" in school when they hear gunshots.
