Michael Gizzi's Collected Poems, a Celebration: October 2, 2015

Patrick Marks welcomes the audience. Steve Dickison introduces the evening's event. Clark Coolidge talks about the editing, with Craig Watson, of Michael Gizzi's Collected Poems, and offers remarks on his friendship with Michael Gizzi, then reads from several works they enjoyed in common: "Man Overboard" by Keith Abbott, two poems from Jack Kerouac's Mexico City Blues, Chapter 23 from Moby Dick by Herman Melville, and "Exile's Letter" by Li Po, translated by Ezra Pound. Coolidge is followed by a recording from October 23, 1997 (courtesy of PennSound) of Michael Gizzi reading his poem "Joujouka Anaesthetist." The recording is followed by poets reading, mostly from Gizzi's Collected Poems: Micah Ballard reads "For All We Know," "Vacance," "Forever Aft," and "Not Once in Time." Dodie Bellamy reads "A Beach Gizoolidge," from Mirage magazine (1995). Alan Bernheimer reads "Walking a street in London's east end" and "Mike says yet again," from Snaps by Geoffrey Young.
