The bottom of the hill is the core of the Castro District commercial area (the 400-500 blocks). Visible at right is the large Castro Theater. The large horizontal buildings in background to the right are Davies Hospital. The row of late Stick-style Victorians in the foreground at right are pre-gentrified, visible in slides from 1980. See related slide for a view from 1986. Note the tree growth blocks the home view from the street.
