Norma Cole reads "Anima" (I have on the tip of my tongue...), Chris Daniels reads "Anima" (My name mispronounced, will be a street...) and "Anima" (Yellowhammer. / First / trill...), and Steve Dickison reads "Anima" (I'm going to take part in the movement of the constellations...) and "Anima" (Fog. Magpies at the top of a leafless poplar...). Kozer then reads "Anima" (En Ecbatana el arco iris . . .) from Anima, and "Indicios del inscrito," from his book Carece de causa. Cole reads "Anima" (On a sheet of graph paper...), Daniels reads "Anima" (The vine is dead...), and Dickison reads "Anima for George Oppen."

Jose Kozer takes questions from the audience. He discusses the meaning for him of the word "anima," his composing process, working in series, poetry's relation to truth and reality, his Jewish ancestors' migration to Cuba, his own attachment to Cuba and to writing in his native language, his prolific practice as a poet, the divide in the Spanish Baroque marked by the rivalry of Quevedo and Gongora, and his connection to a new generation of Latin American poets, among other subjects.
