Ed Rollins and Dotson Wilson discuss Willie Brown and the “Reagan Revolution.” John Burton argues Brown’s greatest accomplishments during the speakership were protecting the concept of public education and the auto insurance reform bill, requiring auto insurance companies to notify customers when a policy has been cancelled (1965-1966). Willie Brown discusses: A bill Mike Roos moved proposing the banning of assault weapons; the anti-apartheid legislation with Maxine Waters, who authored the South Africa Boycott Bill (1985-1986) requiring the state pension system to dispose of stocks in companies that did business with South Africa; restructuring of the court system; and Allen Edgar Broussard, the first African American to sit on the bench in the Supreme Court in California (1981).
