A photographic spread in a yearbook supplement shows photographs of student teachers at the progressive Frederic Burk School. Education students graduated from San Francisco State with experience teaching in an accredited teacher training school and 75 percent of San Francisco State students took pre-teaching courses. Sherman L. Brown directed practice teaching and supervised student teachers preparing to enter the field for nursery schools, kindergarten-primary, elementary, and junior high schools and helped them to shape projects in science, art, health, and travel.
