- Context
- Ancient Egyptians used cartonnage to decorate coffins. Similar to how we would use papier-mâché today, cartonnage is a type of cardboard-like material constructed from layers of linen which had been moistened and stuck together using a type of paste, coated with a layer of stucco, and then painted with elaborate designs.
