Yvonne D'Angers denies claim of fraudulent marriage
About This Item
KRON-TV news footage from June 28 1966 in with reporter Art Brown featuring scenes from a press conference by burlesque dancer Yvonne D'Angers following a hearing at the Immigration and Naturalization Service in San Francisco. It is claimed that D'Angers marriage on July 7 1961 to Howard Stanley Ettlinger in New York was fraudulent and undertaken to secure US citizenship. D'Angers is reluctant to answer many questions directly and winds up repeating selected phrases spoken by reporters and her lawyer: "I did not marry to stay in United States" and "I was a young girl and I didn't know any better." Note that D'Angers (later known as Yvonne Boreta) chained herself to the Golden Gate Bridge on August 30 1966, to protest against an order to leave the US. This news footage will be released in DIVA soon. Opening graphic designed by Carrie Hawks.
