Angel Dominguez and Ronaldo V. Wilson: October 16, 2021

Inverting the common sequence, the evening begins with Angel Dominguez and Ronaldo V. Wilson talking with each other, prior to presenting their work. The conversation begins with a meditation on rejection, with Wilson asking "How do we enliven rejection? What are the ways in which rejection in fact is sort of the only scene of connection?" They take up a question from Dominguez regarding links between "the line" in Wilson's writing and drawings, with instances from artists Charles Gaines, Ellen Gallagher, and Dawn Lundy Martin brought forward to consider legibility and constraint. Throughout the conversation the writers refer to one anothers' various works. They consider that they each write most often in prose, and regard the invitation extended to the reader by such writing, with the sentence as "a portal." The conversation moves to consider Wilson's forthcoming interdisciplinary book.

Reading by turns, Angel Dominguez begins with a selection from the manuscript of his book DESGRACIADO (The Collected Letters), and Ronaldo V. Wilson follows, reading from the story "The Line," out of the manuscript of his forthcoming book of stories, Virgil Kills. They pass back and forth between readings from these two books, with Wilson concluding by reading part of the final story, "Dream," from that collection, and Dominguez concluding the event with a reading of one short letter, "the one selected by Diego."
