R.G. "Ronnie" Davis arrested in Lafayette Park
About This Item
KRON-TV silent news footage from August 7, 1965 featuring the San Francisco Mime Troupe performing scenes from their adaptation of the 16th-century play Il Candelaio in Pacific Height's Lafayette Park. Also includes views of Mime Troupe founder R.G. "Ronnie" Davis being arrested by police and Mime Troupe manager Bill Graham remonstrating with authorities. The San Francisco Parks Commission had granted the Troupe a conditional permit to perform Il Candelaio in city parks but withdrew this permit after only three performances. The Lafeyette Park show would have been their fourth performance. Opening graphic designed by Carrie Hawks.
