Porpoise recovering at Marine Mammal Center
About This Item
KPIX-TV news footage from July 11, 1977 featuring brief scenes of a porpoise being treated at the Marine Mammal Center in Sausalito, CA. Includes views of staff working with the porpoise in a pool and an interview in which one of them explains how the porpoise's recovery is progressing. A note in the original KPIX newsfilm log states that this porpoise was originally found on a beach on Angel Island but we're unable to verify this. Established in 1975, the center is now the world's largest marine mammal hospital. Opening graphic designed by Carrie Hawks.
This 16mm b&w positive reversal film print was transferred in 4K (4096 x 2970) using a Lasergraphics ScanStation film scanner, in July 2023.
