About This Item
Made from pineapple fiber (known as piña), this hand bag is a rare example of the use of piña to create haute accessories, rather than its more common use for clothing. The technique of weaving material made from scraped pineapple leaves was introduced by the colonizing Spanish in the 1500s, and has become a staple of Filipino formal fashion.
