Zeina Hashem Beck and Farnaz Fatemi: October 12, 2022
The Poetry Center, in collaboration with the Center for Iranian Diaspora Studies, presents Farnaz Fatemi and Zeina Hashem Beck. Fatemi reads from her debut book, Sister Tongue زبان خواهر , which won the 2021 Stan and Tom Wick Poetry Prize, selected by Tracy K. Smith, and was published by Kent State University Press 2022, just prior to this event. Beck's book O (Penguin Poets, 2022) was also newly published, and subsequently was named a Best Book of 2022 by both LitHub and The New York Public Library. Fatemi is introduced by Persis Karim, Director of the Center for Iranian Diaspora Studies, and Beck is introduced by Êzîdî poet Zêdan Xelef, at the time a first-year MFA student at SF State.
Note: quality of the video and audio for this Fall 2022 program is due to a loss of the original digital files; the program was salvaged from the live-streamed video document, with thanks to editor Jesus Rodriguez.
