The Longest Walk

A documentary film from 1978 called 'The Longest Walk', produced and directed by David Ludwig, which follows an American Indian Movement (AIM)-led spiritual walk across the country in 1978 from San Francisco to Washington D.C., to support tribal sovereignty and bring attention to a various federal bills that AIM believed would erode Native American rights. Includes scenes from the Peublo Rally on March 26, 1978 and the final rally in Washington D.C. on July 15, 1978. There are also views of speeches and interviews with: John Trudell; John Redhouse; Vernon Bellecourt; Lehman Brightman; Bill Wahpepah; Max Bear; Dick Gregory; Oren Lyons; Wallace Black Elk; Jack Cunningham; Ron Dellums; Phillip Deere; Larry Red Shirt; Marlon Brando; Russell Means; Dennis Banks; David Monongye; Lloyd Meeds and Simon Ortiz.
