Mr. Chambers in front of the room reads aloud (dictates) a typing exercise to fourth graders at the Frederic Burk Elementary School at typewriters as they practice typing with Smith Corona electric typewriters as part of their experimental curriculum. These are not toy typewriters that children played with during the 1950s, they were learning about technology and possibly being encouraged to write with typewriters.
