Students spill along the Quad and lounge across the broad concrete steps of the newly completed Cesar Chavez Student Center—an “iceberg” of pyramids imagined to shape student life after the turbulent years of campus protest. Designed with one pyramid for contemplation and another for energy and noise, the building becomes exactly that here: a sun-drenched landscape of conversation, solitude, movement, and rest. The architecture doesn’t just sit in the Quad—it choreographs how students gather, drift, and claim the campus as their own.
