Instructor at University of Utah and Assistant professor at Stanford University. Born in 1907. Baker studied the diary of Baltimore man Sidney McMechen Van Wyck (1830-1897), written from 1850-1852 during the California gold rush. Retired in 1969. Died on September 22, 1974.
