Jordan M. Churchill. 1948. Professor of Philosophy and Dean of the School of Humanities. BA (1937) and Ph.D. (1956) Columbia University. Churchill became the first chair of the Faculty Council (Academic Senate) and designed the General Education requirements for Humanities. Under a reorganization by President Stanley F. Paulson, Churchill was appointed Dean of the School of Humanities, Language and Literature in fall, 1963. Churchill resigned in 1970 to become Academic Vice President at SUNY New Paltz. Churchill died on December 31, 1997.
