Charles “Rocky” A. Stone. 1968. Director of Admissions and Records and Dean of Students. BA (1946) San Jose State University; MA (1947), Ed.D. (1950) Stanford University. Died January 17, 1981. Stone was a logistics expert. After retiring from a military career in the United States Air Force at the rank of Colonel, Stone inaugurated an ambitious computer assisted registration (CAR) system that allowed the university to shape class scheduling to meet student needs. Stone succeeded Helen Bedesem as Dean of Students in 1972. Died January 17, 1981, buried at Arlington National Cemetery.
