Women For Peace join peace vigil at Port Chicago

KPIX-TV news footage from January 25, 1967, with reporter Ben Williams featuring scenes from outside a munitions depot at Port Chicago, near Concord in Contra Costa County, where members of the East Bay's Women For Peace organization have come out to support Vietnam War protestors, who've been holding a non-stop vigil there since August 7. Includes interviews with Madeline Duckles (1916-2013) and Jean Yacht. Ends with silent views of many people holding placards and protesting peacfully outside the base. Note that the decades-long work of Duckles as a peace activist was acknowledged on the floor of the United States Congress by Rep. Ronald Dellums in 1996 and Rep. Barbara Lee in 2005. Opening graphic designed by Carrie Hawks. This 16mm b&w reversal film print was scanned in 4K (4096 x 2970) using a Lasergraphics ScanStation film scanner, in July 2025.
