ARCHELAOS OF PRIENE: Found on the Via Appia at Bovillae but probably originally from Alexandria. It commemorates the establishment of the cult of Homer by Ptolemy IV (reg 221?205 BCE). The lowest register shows Ptolemy and his wife crowning Homer while figures representing literary genres perform sacrifices. The three upper registers depict the Muses; Apollo; and Zeus.
