EGYPTIAN NEW KINGDOM Anonymous (c.1570 BCE - 1070 BCE): The 28.5 cm-high limestone stela was found in the foundations of the temple of Ramesses II (Memphis). It is possibly from the 18th Dynasty (c. 15th-14th c BCE). The wooden ear is from the Shrine of Hathor at Deir el-Medina (near Thebes). It is dated c. 1200 BCE. Votive offerings such as these are probably requests to the gods to hear prayers.
