WARAD-MARDUK (c. 1800 BCE-1600 BCE): A cuneiform inscription on the back of this mask states that intestines of a sacrificed animal might be found in the shape of Huwawa's face. Coiled intestines of one continuous line like this were an omen of revolution. Huwawa (or Humbaba) was a monster who appeared in the Epic of Gilgamesh.
