John DEE (active 1570 - 1580): Dee was a famous mathematician, astrologer and magician during the reign of Elizabeth I. The wax disk was known as the 'Seal of God.' He used the obsidian mirror, which was originally Aztec, for conjuring spirits. The case was labelled by Horace Walpole who owed it at one time.
