Frans POURBUS (aka Frans POURBUS the younger; 1569/1570 - 1622): A protestant from the family of the Bourbons, he married marguerite de Valois in 1572, and barely escaped the Massacre of St. Bartholomew which took place the day after his wedding. After many battles with the Catholics, he abjured Protestantism in 1593, saying paris was worth a mass. Hedivorced marguerite amd married Maria de Medici.
