Vittore CARPACCIO (1460 - c. 1526): The reverse is a trompe l'oeil of a letter rack. In 1963 it was discovered that the hunting scene was part of a larger composition. The out-of-scale white lilies at the lower left of the panel match up with CarpaccioÃs Two Venetian Ladies on a Balcony in the Museo Correr in Venice. That painting has an empty stem in a vase sitting on a balustrade.
