Al Johnson: Chief Engineer for the Radio and Television Department

Albert A. Johnson, 1939. Chief Engineer for the Radio and Television Department. General Elementary and BA (January 1939) San Francisco State College. Johnson was the first electrical employee at San Francisco State University, who was first hired in 1939 after graduating. Pictured in 1939 Franciscan yearbook, page 30. Johnson became a recording specialist for the music department at the Buchannan Street campus. He designed the recording equipment for the Radio-TV department. Johnson designed the electronic studios and laboratories in the Creative Arts addition and he was responsible for the sound equipment on the Speakers Platform (first college-sanctioned free speech platform in the nation).
