Dan Q. Posin. 1967. Professor of Physical Science, Astronomy and Interdisciplinary Sciences. BA (1932), MA (1934), Ph.D. (1935) University of California, Berkeley. Flamboyant science professor who started a group called Professors for Peace in 1973 to promote peaceful applications for using atomic energy. Posin led a food and clothing drive in his Science and Human Values class to support hurricane victims in Honduras in 1974. Awarded six Emmys for “Test Television Educator for his thirty half-hour color television shows produced by KQED and aired nationally for sixth grade students called Science in the Age of Space. Nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize in 1974.
