Hugh Sanford Baker. 1936. Professor of English and Humanities and advisor to international students. AB (1928) and MA (1932) from Stanford University. Instructor at University of Utah and Assistant professor at Stanford University. Born in 1907. Baker studied the diary of Baltimore man Sidney McMechen Van Wyck (1830-1897), written from 1850-1852 during the California gold rush. Retired in 1969. Died on September 22, 1974.
