Andrea M. Schmid: Professor of Physical Education

Andrea M. Schmid. 1962. Professor of Physical Education. BA (1962) University of California, Berkeley; MA (1965) San Francisco State University; Ed.D. (1968) University of California, Berkeley. Schmidt was a sports psychologist, who specialized in gymnastics. She competed in the 1956 Summer Olympics in Melbourne, Australia. Schmid collaborated with Professor of Physical Education Blanche Drury and Associate Professor of Physical Education Adelia Spangenberg to produce a teaching record related to gymnastics and gymnastics and posture education for neurodivergent students with Hoctor Dance Records in 1967. She worked with Olympic athletes and judged gymnastics in the 1980 Summer Olympics in Seoul, Korea, was technical director of rhythmic gymnastics when the sport made its debut in the 1984 Los Angeles Summer Olympics.
