BS (1932) MS (1932) Birmingham-Southern College; Ph.D. (1952) University of Florida; advanced studies Johns Hopkins University and Oak Ridge Institute of Nuclear Studies. Thomas was an expert in atomic energy selected to attend the Oak Ridge Institute of Nuclear Studies during the 1950s and 1960s. Retired in 1977.
