Joseph L. White. 1968. Professor of Psychology; Dean of Undergraduate Studies. BA (1954), MS (1958) San Francisco State University; Ph.D. (1961) Michigan State University. White was a counseling and clinical psychologist who directed the Educational Opportunities Program at the California State Colleges in 1968. He directed the Head Start Teacher Training Project in Los Angeles City Schools as Director of its Cultural Awareness Center. At San Francisco State he worked with Dr. Nathan Hare on the Black Studies Program. White believed that all members of the campus, including students, should have involvement in the decision-making process.
