Paterson served as one of six women on the Women’s Board of United States Olympic Development Committee from 1958-1969; program chairman of the Third National Institute on Girls’ Sports of figure skating and skiing in 1963; directed first motivational film on gymnastics for the U. S. Olympic Committee; guest of the Secretary of Defense, Joint Civilian Orientation Conference #41 in May 1972 as one of the first four women in the United States; Member of the Board of Directors of the San Francisco Bay Area Hearing Society from 1970 to 1980. Co-founder and first President of the San Francisco State University Club; active in the Faculty Council from 1958 to 1964; member of the Academic Senate; life member of the California Association of Health, physical Education and Recreation; co-founder and executive secretary of the Friends of the J. Paul Leonard Library. Paterson was the first coordinator of Elderhostel at SFSU; faculty representative to the 1974 Long Range Planning Committee. Paterson was a poker player. Retired in 1976. Died on September 27, 1997.
